The Challenger

Type 8 is organized around the desire for strength, autonomy, control, and protection against vulnerability. Eights often move directly into conflict, intensity, and action. They dislike weakness, manipulation, dependency, or being controlled.

Their strength is force. They can be courageous, protective, decisive, honest, and willing to confront what others avoid. At their best, they use their power to defend others and create conditions of justice or freedom.

Their difficulty is excess and defensiveness. Eights may protect their vulnerability by becoming dominating, confrontational, impatient, or emotionally armored. They can mistake tenderness for weakness and struggle to let others affect them.

A Type 8 might think: "If I am strong and in control, no one can overpower or betray me."
